Oceanfront Fun

The Beach
The children's all time summer
vacation fun thing to do is play at the beach! Virginia Beach's Oceanfront boardwalk has something for all ages.
The boardwalk at the beach has carnival games and rides, tasty treats and lots of kid-friendly shopping. The smooth wide boardwalk is great for rollerblades, scooters, bikes and skateboards.

Carnival Games and Rides
On the boarwalk, you'll find games and rides for everyone. The Big Splash log ride comes with a warning- you will get wet! Have some family fun with ring toss, fishing, and more... just be sure you've got room in the car for a the lifesized Sponge Bob prize!

Family Bikes
At the Oceanfront, you can rent family sized bikes that seat everyone! The kids absolutely love this!

Beach Jewelry and Hair Wraps
A favorite stop is the hair wraps place. Colorful string is wrapped on a small srands of your hair. It stays in long enough to be a beach vacation souvenir! Kids love to watch as artists write their names on a piece of rice to set in a beach necklace. It's quickly becoming a Virginia Beach vacation tradition.

Candy Kitchen
Children of all ages love the
Candy Kitchen. It's an old fashioned candy shop with lots of yummy unique sweets. This is the spot for fresh traditional saltwater taffy and rocky road fudge. Favorites include large colorful lollipops that last and last, mix and match bulk candy and gourmet chocolates.

Ice Cream
Visit Dairy Queen for a cold delicious sundae or chocolate topped cone. Licking a cone watching the waves is a favorite fun thing to do on vacation in Virginia Beach.

Shopping
Even kids love to stroll through the shops at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. There's lots of souveniers and inexpensive toys to explore. The variety of stores offer beach gear like toys, chairs, towels and clothes in a huge price range. Some shops are so inexpensive, you can easily get what you need on your trip instead of buying and packing it at home. Closer to summer, we'll check out the shops and give you Insider's tips.
