May 1st - May 3rd - Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Atlantic Coast Kite Festival - This event opens with a reception at the Courthouse Galleries located at 420 High Streetin Portsmouth on Friday from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. On Saturday , kites will be flying from 10:00am to 5:00 pm at the 17th Street area of Virginia Beach. If you miss the excitement in Virginia Beach, the kites move to Portsmouth for another day of fun filled activites on Sunday from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Visit Beach Street USA for more information.

Performances of West Side Story will be held at the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts at 2:00pm and 8:00pm on May 1st and 2nd, and at 2:00pm on May 3rd. Visit the Sandler Center for tickets and for more information.

- The Cornhole de Mayo will be held on the beach at 9th Street on Saturday from 10:00am - 6:00pm, and on Sunday from 12:00pm - 6:00pm. Come join the fun and learn all about the sport of Cornhole! Visit Beach Street USA for more information.

May 8th - May 10th - Friday thru Sunday
- The 12th Annual Monsters on the Beach event is held on the beach between 4th and 8th Streets. Shows are scheduled for Friday at 7:00pm, Saturday at 12:00pm and 7:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm. - The PANorama Caribbean Music Festival is a fun filled event highlighting steel pan music competitions and performances. Come listen as the bands vie for first place! - Beach Music Weekend Ready to listen to some "oldies and goodies"? Then this event is for you. Most performances will be held on a stage on the beach at 30th Street.The Craig Woolard Band will perform on Thursday at 7:30, The Legends of Beach will entertain us on Friday at 7:30pm. On Saturday, The Main Event will perform at noon, the Magnificents will perform at 2:30pm, Bill Deal's Rhondels will perform at 5:00pm and the Swingin' Medallions will perform at 7:45. On Sunday, the gala is capped with performances by Coolin' Out at noon, the Band of Oz at 2:00pm, Chairmen of the Board at 4:00pm and the Entertainers at 7:00pm (at the 31st Street Park). - Pungo Strawberry Festival - The 26th annual Pungo Strawberry Festival is going to be the largest ever this year. Pick strawberries, eat strawberry pie, watch the parade, pig races, attend the carnival and eat some seriously good food.

- East Coast She Crab Soup Classic Love She Crab Soup? Want to judge for yourself who makes the best She Crab Soup in Virginia Beach? If so, be sure to come join in at the 1st Annual East Coast She Crab Soup Classic. Each purchased ticket entitles the bearer to sample soup at each station.
